No Heat or Weak Heat
Failed ignition, a bad thermostat, low water pressure, or a stuck zone valve can all leave radiators cold. We find which one it is.
When a boiler stops heating, the whole house knows it. A Good Neighbor Heating & Cooling repairs hot water and radiator heating systems throughout the Michiana area - and because boilers involve water, pressure, fuel, and combustion, this is a job for technicians who work on them regularly.
We have served local homeowners since 1919, we work on many major boiler brands, and our customer service line answers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You get an explanation of the problem and the repair cost before we start.

Leaking valves, fittings, pump seals, or corrosion in the boiler body. Early repair prevents water damage and bigger failures.
Rumbling, banging, or gurgling usually points to mineral scale, trapped air, or circulation problems.
Pressure that keeps dropping suggests a leak or fill problem; pressure too high points to the expansion tank or fill valve.
A pilot that will not stay lit or electronic ignition that fails intermittently - common causes of boilers that quit overnight.
The pump that moves hot water through your system wears out over time; a failing one often announces itself with noise before it dies.
Boilers can run for decades, and many repairs are worth making even on older units. When a repair is not the smart money, we will show you replacement numbers alongside the repair quote.

Trapped air in the radiators is the most common cause and is fixed by bleeding them. If that does not help, the circulator pump, zone valves, or system pressure may be the problem - all things a technician can diagnose quickly.
A rumbling or kettle-like sound, called kettling, usually means mineral scale has built up on the heat exchanger, causing water to overheat and steam. It reduces efficiency and stresses the boiler, so it is worth having serviced soon.
Treat it seriously. A small leak can come from a valve or fitting, but leaks from the boiler body itself often indicate corrosion. Turn down the system, put something under the drip, and call. Continuing to run a leaking boiler can make the damage worse.
Most residential boilers operate around 12 to 15 psi when cool. If your gauge reads near zero the system may need water or have a leak; if it is far above the normal range, the expansion tank or fill valve may have a problem. When in doubt, have it checked.
Frequent shutdowns can come from low water pressure, a faulty thermostat, a failing sensor, or safety controls reacting to an underlying problem. Because boilers combine water, fuel, and combustion, repeated lockouts deserve professional diagnosis rather than repeated resets.

Often, yes - boilers are long-lived, and many repairs are economical even on older units. But if the boiler is decades old, leaking from the body, or needs a major component, we will give you replacement numbers too so you can compare.
